FKFPL Wrap: Ingwe electrocute Homeboyz as Gor Mahia take full control

AFC Leopards defied all odds to end Kakamega Homebpyz's five-match winning streak.
- Gor Mahia defeated FC Talanta in Kakamega to open up the gap over the chasing pack.
- AFC Leopards recorded only their second win of the season after 15 games by beating Kakamega Homeboyz.
- Shabana ended the three-match winless streak with a huge victory over Sofapaka.
Match week 15 did not go as planned for many Football Kenya
Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clubs with some of them falling to
minnows.
However, the weekend saw some of the teams surprise many
football fans including their own as they stunned favorites to pick the rare
three points.
AFC Leopards and Shabana FC did exactly that, humbling in form
teams to give their fans something to smile about in a season which has seen
them fire blanks in most matches.

Other clubs such as Tusker FC started to find momentum after
winning back-to-back matches for the first time this season as Bandari FC
social media administrator had a field day against his Murang’a Seals
counterpart.
Here is how events went down during match week 15.
Gor Mahia in command as unbeaten run continues
Gor Mahia FC went four points clear at the top of the FKFPL
thanks to a 0-2 win over FC Talanta at Bukhungu Stadium on Sunday evening.
The club which is yet to suffer a defeat this season got
their goals in the second half of the difficult match through reliable
midfielder Austine Odhiambo and Boniface Omondi.

The win took the defending champions tally to 31, four ahead
of KCB FC who won their match 1-2 away to Police FC.
Shabana run riot against Sofapaka
Shabana fans had a memorable day as their club demolished
pre-match favorites Sofapaka 4-1 in Homa Bay.
Youngster Ezekieh Omuri was the engine behind Shabana’s
triumph, providing several assists in the one-sided encounter.
The Kisii-based club, who are yet to confirm their new head
coach, scored their goals through Omuri, Wycliffe Nthata, and Brian Michira
while Austin Wahongo scored Batoto ba Mungu’s consolation goal.

The win ended Shabana’s three match winless run and ensured
they moved out of the relegation zone.
As for Sofapaka, they dropped to position 16 with only the
goal difference separating them with Shabana, Kariobangi Sharks, and Ingwe who
all have 14 points.
Ingwe shock Kakamega Homeboyz to end winless run
AFC Leopards bagged the Ingo derby bragging rights after
stunning rivals Kakamega Homeboyz 2-0 in a match played at the Nyayo National
Stadium.
Ingwe, who entered the match as the underdogs, scored their
goals in the first half through Cliffton Miheso (34th minute) and Hassan Beja
(39th minute) to ease pressure on the head coach Tomas Trucha.

The vital victory was Ingwe’s second of the season and it
helped them climb to position 13 with 14 points, three behind Ulinzi Stars who
could not use their home advantage in their painful 2 -1 defeat in the hands of
Nairobi City Stars.
AFC Leopard fans will be hoping that the huge win will signify
a corner taken in the club’s fortunes.
