Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta shut down a reporter with a brutal response during a post-match press conference after the Gunners’ painful defeat at the hands of Liverpool FC in Sunday night’s FA Cup clash.

When the reporter asked Arteta why his side did not find the back of the net, he simply stated “because the ball didn’t go on the net”.

The highly-rated gaffer added that his side did not take the chances when the reporter repeated his question.

Arteta also took the opportunity to praise his side despite the humiliating defeat, describing the squad as currently the world’s best.

“I haven’t seen any other team in the first six months that have generated what we have done against them in the last two games and we are not capitalizing in the last few games.

Actually the result is something very different but when my team plays with that attitude, courage, desire and does what they have done, they are probably the best team in Europe in terms of moment,” explained the former Manchester City assistant coach.

He further stated that he will stick behind his charges and support them in good and bad moments.

The one-time FA Cup winner also urged Arsenal supporters to appreciate the players that they have when asked his opinion on the request from some of the fans for the club to sign a striker this January transfer window.

“The supporters are behind the team. In difficult moments they are still with the ones that we have.

Let's stick with them that is exactly what they need as we are fully behind them and then they feel important and supported because they deserve with the attitude,” he commented.

The 41-year-old went on to ask the fans to remain patient because Arsenal will generate momentum with time and win a lot of matches.

Finally, Arteta divulged that Brazilian international Gabriel Jesus did not play any role in the game because of a precautionary measure.

“He had some pain in his knee, so we did a scan and showed something. Hopefully it is not something big but it is the same knee so we cannot take any risk,” he noted.
