Gor Mahia and AFC Leopard is just less than a week away.
The epic clash scheduled to take place on Sunday, April 21 comes at a time when more than 15 points separates the two clubs in
the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) standings.
K’Ogalo currently sit at the top of the log with 54 points at the
moment, 19 ahead of AFC Leopards, who have a game in hand.
As always, fireworks are expected to be witnessed since most
of the Mashemeji derbies usually deliver.

Among the players who have lit up the stage on such
occasions is Ugandan international Danny Sserunkuma.
The diminutive attacker had a successful stint with Gor
Mahia which saw him help the club secure several titles and, in the process, enter his name into history books as one of the most clinical forwards to have
ever donned the famous green jersey.
Sserunkuma scored a total of 6 goals in the Mashemeji derby during his spell with the record FKFPL champions.
The goals make him the joint top scorer in the history of the fixture alongside the legendary Sammy 'Jogoo' Onyango.

The only other player who has managed to score more than
three goals since the first Mashemeji derby tie was played on 5 May 1968 is
Wilberforce Mulamba. The former AFC Leopards magician managed to find the back
of the net four times.
Moreover, Sserunkuma is the only player to have bagged a
brace twice in the fixture which is the most watched in Kenya.
Finally, the other thing that is special about the talented
striker is the fact that he is one of the few players to have ever scored in
three consecutive Mashemeji derbies.
Besides him, the other stars who have achieved that incredible feat are Abdul Baraza and the ever-reliable Gor Mahia goal machine Meddie Kagere.
