Wanyama suffers humiliating defeat as Odada gets victory in Denmark

- Wanyama was forced to watch from the bench for all 90 minutes as his side suffered the first defeat of the season.
- His CF Montreal side threw away a two-goal advantage.
Several Kenyan players featured for their clubs over the
weekend with their various teams recording mixed results.
The highlight of the weekend for the Stars Abroad segment was
Victor Wanyama's side throwing away a two-goal lead as they eventually succumbed
to a dramatic 4-3 defeat against Chicago Fire.
During the Sunday morning match, the former Harambee Stars
skipper was forced to watch from the bench for all 90 minutes as his side
suffered the first defeat of the season.
Wanyama's CF Montreal was well ahead in the game before
Chicago came from behind with three goals in 15 minutes, including two in
second-half stoppage time to earn their first win of the season at Soldier
Field.

Montreal got off to an early start in the match, scoring
twice in the first 12 minutes of play after the video assistant referee awarded
them a penalty following Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady's foul play. Forward
Matias Coccaro stepped forward and put Montréal ahead in the eighth minute.
In the tenth minute, the referee pointed to the spot again and
Coccaro converted his second penalty kick of the match.
Maren Haile-Selassie struck just before halftime to make the
score 2-1 and cut into Montréal’s lead. Chicago came back rejuvenated in the
second half but Montréal put a third in the net, midfielder Brian Gutiérrez
grabbing a second for Chicago after converting from the penalty spot in the
84th minute.
Hugo Cuypers found the equalizer in the 90+5th minute of
play and Acosta fired the winning goal in the 90+9th minute.

Stars no show
Richard Odada
Midfielder Richard Odada helped Aalborg finish the Danish
second division regular season top of the league following a 2-1 win on
Saturday.
The Harambee Stars midfielder played a critical role that
helped his side secure the victory against Hillerod to finish their regular
Danish second-division campaign top after 22 games.
Odada came in as a substitute and helped Aalborg grab the
second goal of the match in the 85th minute.
Adrian Justinussen put the home team 1-0 ahead in the fourth
minute but Aalborg equalized in the eighth minute courtesy of Mathias
Jorgensen.
Five minutes before full time Kasper Jorgensen secured
Aalborg the much-needed victory with a left-footed effort.
So far, the highly-rated Harambee Stars midfielder Richard
Odada has bagged four goals and registered three assists.

Other Stars Abroad
Former Nairobi City stars midfielder Timothy Ouma featured
in IF Elfsborg's starting team. Ouma, who was not named in the Harambee Stars
squad for the upcoming Four Nations tournament, registered a goal in the match
which helped the Swedish top-tier side outsmart Hacken FC 3-1 in a friendly
match played at the Bravida Stadium in Sweden.
Ouma found the back of the net with seven minutes on the
clock and helped his side register the win in the friendly match. Ouma last featured for IF Elfsborg in
February when his side defeated Odd 3-1 in league action.

The Kenyan international is capitalizing on his friendly
form to book a regular starting spot for
IF Elfsborg.
Elsewhere, Zach Obiero who has been included in the Kenya
under-20 side for the Four Nations tournament in Malawi, was an unused
substitute as his side Leyton Orient made a return to winning ways with a 1-0
victory over Stevenage in an EFL League One match played on Saturday afternoon.
Max Sanders scored the only game of the match in the 16 minute and secured an important victory for Leyton Orient. Before the game, Orient had gone three matches without a win.
