SUMMARY
  • Goals from Erambo and Njuguna delivered the three points.
  • The defeat left Bernard Mwalala's KCB without a win in their last eight games (D2 W6).\
  • The highly anticipated Ingo Derby pitting Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards failed to produce a winner.

Robert Matano's Tusker continued with their ascendancy in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League as they claimed a 2-0 win over KCB to jump up to third spot on the log.

In the Sunday afternoon clash staged at Machakos Stadium, goals from Chrispine Erambo and second-half substitute John Njuguna settled the contest in favour of Tusker as KCB's woes persisted.

The defeat left the Bernard Mwalala-coached side without a win in their last eight games (D2 W6) and in position 10 on the log on 29 points, a whole eighteen points behind log-leading Gor Mahia.

The match was largely dull with Stephen Etyang missing KCB’s clearest chance that should have opened the scoring on the 8th minute.

After pouncing on a Michael Kibwage mishit back pass, the diminutive attacker was through on goal after beating Eugene Asike for pace, but he fluffed the chance as he pulled his shot wide off target much to the relief of the Tusker backline.

With just minutes to the end of the first half, Tusker almost grabbed a surprise goal but Farouk Shikhalo came to the rescue of his side as he pulled off a huge save to maintain the deadlock into the breather.

The second half proved to be a smash-and-grab affair as Erambo maximized on a Tusker corner to head an in-swinging Njuguna delivery into the back of the net on the 68th minute.

Njuguna turned from provider to scorer on the 80th minute when he scored a peach of a goal from just outside the box in a thunderous strike that literally passed through the net to seal the win.

Elsewhere, the highly anticipated Ingo Derby pitting Kakamega Homeboyz and AFC Leopards failed to produce a winner as both sides played to a barren stalemate at the Bukhungu Stadium.

At the Police Sacco Stadium, Kariobangi Sharks left it late in rescuing a point against FC Talanta as John Mark Makwatta scored with thirteen minutes left to force a 1-1 draw.

Alex Juma had given the Ken Kenyatta-coached side the lead in the 43rd minute.
