Newly-promoted Shabana FC ended their wait for a first victory back in the top-flight as they stunned 12-time champions Tusker 0-1 in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) match played at the MISC Kasarani on Friday afternoon.

The Kisii based side, having been promoted back to the top-flight after a 17-year absence, had struggled to get going as they failed to get any win in their opening five matches (D3 L2).

However, Vincent Nyabuto’s bullet header in the 70th minute was all Tore Bobe needed to record an emphatic victory over Robert Matano’s Tusker on Friday in a memorable encounter.

The result saw the 22/23 National Super League champions jump out of the relegation places as Tusker’s mixed start to the season stretched even further (W2 D2 L2).

Elsewhere, early front runners Posta Rangers extended their gap at the top of the table to seven points after beating Nzoia Sugar 2-0 at the Kasarani Annex Stadium.

Goals from Kennedy Odhiambo and Brian Otieno saw the John Kamau coached side record their fifth straight win in the league as they also maintained their unbeaten start to the season (W5 D1).

In the other match played on Friday, Kakamega Homeboyz failed to pick a win despite leading twice as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Talanta FC.
