The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) competitions and leagues committee has slapped Migori Youth FC and Muhoroni Youth FC with huge fines due to crowd troubles witnessed in their recent matches.

According to the press release signed by FKF general secretary Barry Otieno, the decisions were made after a review of submissions provided by the four clubs and reports from the match officials in charge.

The top-flight clash pitting Muhoroni Youth against KCB saw supporters invade the pitch towards the late stages of the match, forcing the game to be abandoned.

In a video which went viral online, KCB head coach Bernard Mwalala was pushed by a fan who made his way to the playing area before other Muhoroni Youth fans stormed the field, leaving the officials with no other choice but to abandon the game which had the Bankers leading courtesy of Haniff Wesonga’s goal in the 33rd minute.

In a decision made public on Wednesday, KCB were awarded the win as FKF fined Muhoroni Youth Ksh. 300,000. They were also ordered to host their next five matches away from Muhoroni Stadium with club chairman Moses Adagala barred from attending their next three matches.

“The match is awarded to KCB FC, granting them 3 points and a 2-goal advantage. Muhoroni Stadium is suspended from hosting the next five (5) Muhoroni Youth FC home matches, which shall be played behind closed doors.

Mr. Moses Adagala, Chairperson of Muhoroni Youth FC, is banned from attending the next three Muhoroni Youth matches. Muhoroni Youth FC is required to pay a fine of KES 300,000,” the statement read.

Similar to Muhoroni Youth FC who failed to control their supporters, Migori Youth will have to pay a fine of Ksh 200,000 after a Darajani Gogo photographer was attacked, resulting in the damage of valuable equipment including an expensive iPhone 14.

The National Super League side is also required to pay for the damages and play their home matches without fans.

“Migori Youth FC is directed to pay Darajani Gogo FC for the damaged iPhone 14, media equipment, and reimburse medical expenses incurred within fourteen days of this decision.

Migori Stadium is prohibited from hosting the next five Migori Youth FC home matches, which will be played behind closed doors,” part of the rulings from the committee read.

However, unlike the other fixture, the result of the match remained 1-0 in favor of the hosts.
