Murang'a Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi is confident his side will show an even better account of themselves when they new National Super League season kicks off.

Nyaberi was speaking to SportPesa News after his side suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Kenya Premier League outfit Nairobi City Stars in Ngong on Friday.

The friendly match was part of the continued pre-season as local clubs await formal communication regarding when the leagues will officially resume.

"The game today was good and at least the boys played according to the instructions I gave them. We have a good team here at Murang'a Seal.

"Such friendlies are important before the league starts so I can gauge my team and see where, if any improvements are required," Nyaberi stated after the game.

Seal, which was formed in 2016, put on a remarkable show throughout last season and their efforts saw them finish the NSL season in third place.

An contentious result after some accusations of fair play and point deductions were not properly dealt with, prompting them to play in the FKF KPL promotion-relegation playoff.

After the two-legged contest, Seal were unlucky to lose on the away-goal rule after a 4-4 aggregate score against Wazito FC.

"We have to let the past go and keep believing that we have what it takes to play in the Kenya Premier League. That is what our focus has to be now.

"There is enough quality in this side to challenge for the NSL title in the upcoming season and I urge everyone who believed in us to not lose that hope. We need the support," the former Thika United man stated.

Nyaberi started the game with only 5 regular first team players and it was an evenly poised first half until the goal midway through the first half gave their opponents the lead.

At half time, all first XI players were taken off with the exception of Dennis Wabwire, who was the highest scoring defender in the recently concluded NSL season.

The younger players put up a good fight and had chances to equalize in the second half but were unlucky to see an effort come off the crossbar in the dying moments of the game.

"I am content with our performance today. Despite the loss, there is a sense of fight in this team that is more than enough to take on the new season and come out on top," Nyaberi concluded.
