Murang'a Seal kept their promotion dreams alive after a narrow 1-0 victory over Shabana FC in their last home game at the St. Sebastien Park on Monday.

Dennis Wabwire slotted home a 62nd minute penalty after Erick Balecho was brought down in the box to seal all three points for the home side.

The victory leaves Seal in second place with 64 points as they continue to pursue their dream of Kenya Premier League promotion for the first time.

"The game was not easy but I believe the half time team talk worked because the boys came back stronger and put on a good fight.

"I always tell them we should treat every game like a final and that is the attitude that has brought us this far. We are almost at the finish line now and we have to maintain our focus," Seal coach Vincent Nyaberi told SportPesa News after the game.

The game was stopped for 10 minutes as Shabana protested the penalty decision insisting it was not a foul, but the match resumed and was played to conclusion.

The result means Shabana, who have managed 56 points, are out of the promotion contest.

Seal have one game left to play, an away game against league leaders and already promoted APS Bomet on Sunday.

Muhoroni Youth have now moved to third on the log with 62 points, pending the decision on the abandoned clash between Fortune Sacco and Mully Children's Home.

Whoever finishes in third place will have their fate dependent on a play-off match against Wazito who finished 16th in the Kenyan top tier.

Murang'a Seal, which was founded in 2016, have been on a steady rise and are now just one game away from ensuring they will play in the Kenya Premier League next season.

"Despite not converting all of our chances, I am happy that we kept our hope alive and managed to bag all three points.

"I want to thank our fans because without them we would not be here and we will do our best to make them and the entire Murang'a community proud in our last game on Sunday," Seal captain Peter Mwaura underlined.
