Morocco Battle For A Point Against Croatia In Yet Another Barren Draw

The 2018 World Cup runners-up Croatia were held to a barren draw by Morocco in their opening Group F encounter at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday.

The point could prove to be an important one for the North Africans in a Group that also has Belgium and Canada, who battle it out later in the day.

Morocco were well organized throughout the game and despite plenty of renown talent in Zlatko Dalic's side, they could not find a way to break down their opponents.

It was a rather quiet goalless draw with both nations registering just 2 attempts on target, without any clear cut chances to speak of.

Captain Luka Modric played well in the first half but the 37-year old failed to make a real impact and provide the creative spark that his teammates needed from him.

They did dominate possession but in the end it was not enough as they had to settle for a point as they kicked off their 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Denmark and Tunisia failed to score in their Group D match yesterday and Robert Lewandowski missed a penalty as Poland were held to a goalless draw by Mexico.

Both teams will resume action on Sunday with the Croatians taking on Canada as Morocco face a tough test against Belgium.

Based on this display, many are not convinced Croatia will be reaching a second successive final, but they still have time to recover from the disappointing draw.
