KISUMU, Kenya- Jacques
Tuyisenge’s 92nd minute header was enough for Gor Mahia FC as they beat Bandari
FC 1-0 at the Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Tuesday afternoon.
The victory propelled Gor back to the SportPesa Premier
League (SPL) summit with 49 points, having played three games less than second
place Sofapaka FC.
Bandari put on a brave fight but were undone by the Rwandese
forwards last minute header to leave them in third place, four points off the
top.
Bandari kicked off the game on the stronger foot,
registering the first attempt on goal in the second minute but Collins Agade’s
long range effort went inches wide of the Gor goal.
Eight minutes later, skipper Harun Shakava looked to have made
a mess from a free kick, which rattled the upright before he made amends and
cleared it to safety.

Gor got into the game and it seemed a level playing field as
the match progressed but Agade, this time with help from William Wadri came
close to breaking the deadlock in the 23rd.
Shaban Odhoji, who was handed a rare league start by coach
Hassan Oktay, was called into action a minute later and he was up to the task
pulling off a great save.
The start of the second half lacked the pace the first ended
with and Bernard Mwalala was the first to look to his bench, bringing on
Benjamin Mosha to replace Shaban Kenga.
There were not many chances to speak of until the 70th when substitute
and former Harambee Stars captain Dennis Oliech was denied by a brilliant save
from Farouk Shikhalo.
Michael Luvutsi was replaced by Dan Guya with a quarter of
an hour left in the cagey encounter, as the dockers continued to seek a goal
that would grant them all three points.

Dependable forward Tuyisenge then latched onto a cross and
gave the champions a well deserved lead with a minute left to play.
Although Bandari’s four-match winning streak was halted,
they still remain on course to equal their best ever finish from last season as
they prepare for a tough home test against AFC Leopards SC on Sunday.
