Kenya’s Angela Tanui & Brian Kwemoi triumph in Napoli Half Marathon

The race was held on Sunday 25 February.
- Kwemoi led his fellow citizens to a clean podium sweep.
- Tanui produced a scintillating performance to bag the women's title.
- Elsewhere, Kenya’s Dorine Jerop led her compatriot Irene Jerobon to clinch the top two positions at the 2024 Maratón BP Castellón that was staged in Spain.
Kenyan road race runners had a wonderful outing at the 2024
Napoli City Half Marathon held earlier on Sunday in Italy.
Angela Tanui produced a scintillating performance from the
start of the hotly contested race and went on to bag the title.
The 31-year-old broke the tape in a personal best time of
1:07.04 ahead of home girl Sofiia Yaremchuk and compatriot Nancy Jepleting.
Yaremchuk and Jepleting crossed the finishing line in 1:08.27 and 1:10.03
respectively.

In the men’s category, Kenyans also had a field day with
Brian Kwemoi leading his fellow citizens to a clean podium sweep.
The 2023 Beijing Half Marathon winner stepped on the gas
with a few kilometres remaining to the end of the race and went on to cut the
tape in a personal best time of 59:26.
Antony Kimtai came a distant second in 59:45 (also a
personal best) ahead of Bernard Biwott, who could only manage a time of 59:47.

Elsewhere, Kenya’s Dorine Jerop led her compatriot Irene
Jerobon to clinch the top two positions at the 2024 Maratón BP Castellón that
was staged in Spain.
Jerop and Jerobon both clocked personal best times of 2:29.39
and 2:30.52 respectively in a showdown in which Ethiopia’s Bizuager Aderra
settled for the third position in a personal best time of 2:31.25.
Eritrea’s Kibrom Weldemicael stunned the pre-race favorites
to escape with the men’s title in a championship record time of 2:07.25.
He was followed by Kenya’s James Kiplagat (2:15.14) who
narrowly edged out Abraham Medhanie (2:15.32).
