NAIROBI, Kenya- Harambee Stars and AFC Leopards SC legend, Joe Kadenge has been admitted at a Nairobi hospital after reportedly suffering a stroke on Wednesday.

Kadenge, 83, was rushed to the hospital by his children after developing complications in his Nairobi residence on Wednesday night.

Speaking to SportPesa News, his eldest son, James Kadenge, reported the football icon is receiving intensive treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.

“We believe this is related to the passing on of our sister, Everlyn Kadenge, who died last Sunday in the United States,” the younger Kadenge stated.

“We hope our father’s condition will be stable very soon, but we are not sure if he will be able to take a flight to America to bury our sister,” James underlined.

Frail Kadenge has been on and off the hospital. He was visited by President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga at his house in Mariakani Estate , South B, in Nairobi when he fell ill in January 2017.

Last year, Kadenge was invited by English Premier League side Manchester United FC when the club marked the 60th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster.

The Munich air disaster occurred on February 6, 1958 when British European Airways Flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich-Riem Airport, West Germany.

On the plane was the United football team, nicknamed the Busby Babes, along with supporters and journalists. Twenty of the 44 on the aircraft died at the scene.

Survivors included manager, Sir Matt Busby and club legend, Sir Bobby Charlton who went on to play a key role in reviving the team to the European and English powerhouse it is today, laying the modern foundations of United.
