Kenya Eyeing CECAFA Women Football Trophy As Provisional Squad Unveiled

- The list largely features top performers from the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Youth Tournament among them Nuru Hensley from St. Mary’s Ndovea High School, Lavenda Murumwa (Bishop Njenga), Jane Njeri (Barcelona Ladies FC) and Joy KingLady (Kwale Girls) who all made it to the All-Stars squad that is currently representing the country in Spain
- The Junior Starlets had breezed past Botswana in the first round on a 7-1 aggregate before edging out Ethiopia 4-3 in the second round
NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenya has started preparations for CECAFA U20 Women Championships that is slated for Nairobi in July.
In order to perform well in the football tournament that will be graced by 12 countries, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) named a 36-man provisional squad on Tuesday to start preparation for the regional competition.
The list largely features top performers from the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Youth Tournament among them Nuru Hensley from St. Mary’s Ndovea High School, Lavenda Murumwa (Bishop Njenga), Jane Njeri (Barcelona Ladies FC) and Joy KingLady (Kwale Girls) who all made it to the All-Stars squad that is currently representing the country in Spain.

Micky Khode of Solwigidi FC and Mathare United Women FC’s Teresia Lundu have also been called-up.
FKF stated the players will be whittled down after the May 18 trials ahead of the regional football showdown.
The federation is optimistic that the competition will improve the standard of the game in the country at the same time strengthen the national team that took part part in the U-20 World Cup qualifiers in 2017, falling to Ghana in the final qualifying round.
