This is according to the ministry’s principal secretary Peter Tum who was speaking during the closing down of the stadium for renovation works ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations that will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

“It is expected that this contract will last for only twelve months beginning today. Therefore, it is expected that they would have finished the refurbishment within that period of time,” he stated.

On his part, the Cabinet Secretary disclosed that the contract has been awarded to a Chinese-based firm who will make sure the facility meets international standards.

“This Stadium is almost 40 years old. It has been around for a while. It has not undergone major rehabilitation for a long time and when the confederation of African football or CAF inspection team visited, we agreed on a number of interventions.
