Kakamega Homeboyz took charge of the Kenya Premier League table after a slim 1-0 victory against Kariobangi Sharks in a postponed fixture on Saturday.

A 55th minute David Okoth penalty was enough to gift Homeboyz the win that sees them top the standings with 28 points after 13 games.

Sharks were on a three-match unbeaten streak but the defeat saw them drop to seventh place with 21 points.

KCB remain in second place with 25 points, despite going down 1-0 to newcomers Bidco United over the weekend.

This was Bidco's fourth win since being promoted into the Kenyan top flight, leaving them in 12th place with 16 points.

Elsewhere, AFC Leopards stretched their unbeaten run to six games but were unable to bag all three points as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Nzoia Sugar.

All goals were scored in the first half as Eugene Mukangula canceled out Kevin Juma's opener as both teams settled for a point.

The point leaves Ingwe in 14th place with 14 points, five more than Nzoia who are a place below their opponents.

Wazito continued their horrible run of form and this time were humiliated by Vihiga Bullets, who won their first ever KPL match, to hand them their third straight defeat.

The 4-2 loss leaves them languishing in the dreadful relegation zone with 9 points after 13 games, while Vihiga remain rooted to the bottom with 5 points.

Another club that is struggling to find any sort of break are Mathare United, who have now lost their last five games, scoring just twice while conceding 12 goals.

The Slum Boys went down 1-0 to Gor Mahia on Sunday courtesy of a goal from teenage sensation Frank Odhiambo Onyango.

The win was a first for the record league winners in their last five matches and are now in 5th place on the log with 22 points after playing 12 games.

Nairobi City Stars shot up into the top three after a hard-fought 2-1 victory against newbies Talanta FC on Saturday.

Anthony Kimani Njenga and Sven Yidah were on target in the first half for City Stars, who are enjoying a dream return to the Kenya Premier League.

Francis Kahiro scored for the hosts in the second half but it was not enough as they dropped to eighth place with 20 points.
