Harambee Stars ace Richard Odada opens foundation back in Ongata Rongai community

Harambee Stars highly-rated midfielder Richard Odada has brightened the faces of Ongata Rongai residents ahead of the Christmas end of the year festivities. 

Odada, who is currently on loan at Danish Club Aalborg BK from Philadelphia Union, launched a foundation and donated food items to the members of Nakeel community.

The Odada Foundation seeks to help talented kids from poor backgrounds quench their thirst for knowledge by sponsoring their education.

The event was attended by various officials from the County Government of Kajiado including deputy governor Martin Moshisho Martine.

Moshisho urged other sportspersons in the country to follow Odada’s inspiring example by supporting their communities. 

“I am so impressed by the work done by Odada and I challenge other sportsmen to also support the youth by nurturing their talents.

The Odada foundation will nurture talents and connect players to play in Europe,” he commented.

Moshisho added that the County government will continue working closely together with other stakeholders to prevent young individuals from abusing drugs and support their talents.

Odada schooled at the nearby Laiser Hill Academy where his talent was identified and nurtured.

He was part of the Kenyan squad that took part in the first round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Gabon and Seychelles in November.

Odada has been one of the mainstays in the national team since his breakthrough with some fans tipping him to fill the void that was left by former Tottenham Hotspur star Victor Wanyama.
