Gor Mahia’s weekend hero Chris Ochieng reveals main target at the club

Rarely used Gor Mahia FC forward Christopher Ochieng has disclosed his main goal at the club this season.

The hardworking forward was signed at the start of the current 23/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League from Bidco United to bolster the attacking options at the record Kenyan champions.

In an exclusive interview with SportPesa News, Ochieng revealed that his main target is to help the current table toppers to win another title.

“The target of every player when he joins Gor Mahia is to help the team win trophies. Nothing else. So, I think that is my main objective.

At the end of the day, when you retire from your career, your titles are what will count. So, I will be grateful if I add more to my trophy cabinet,” commented Ochieng.

Gor Mahia have played 18 games so far, winning 11 of them and picking up seven draws in the process to bring their tally to 40 points. 

When asked how he felt after scoring the screamer, a delighted Ochieng described the experience as amazing. 

“It is a great feeling to be honest. All in all we are grateful. It is part of what we should be doing and when it happens it should not look like a miracle.So, we thank God and just keep pushing,” the goal poacher stated. 

Furthermore, Ochieng explained the role his gaffer played in his Saturday’s goal, divulging that the Northern Irish tactician has helped him become a better player.

“Shots from outside count a lot. He (McKinstry) told us in case we get an opportunity outside the box, we should try our luck because anything can happen,” he noted.

Ochieng ended by stating that he will continue training harder and make any playing chances that he gets moving forward count.

Gor will next be in action against an in-form Tusker side this Saturday at the Machakos Stadium.

The Robert Matano coached side have not lost in their last eight games and head into the match on the back of five straight wins.
