Germany, Uganda among confirmed teams for 2023 Safari 7s

Three teams from the United Kingdom will also grace the 2023 event.
- The 2023 edition will take place from 17-19 November.
- The three-day competition will be held at the RFUEA Grounds.
- Shujaa beat Germany 12-5 in the last edition to claim the title on home soil.
- The 2022 edition was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.
The 12 teams that will take part in the Safari 7s tournament
making its comeback in the country following a one-year hiatus have been
confirmed by the Kenya Rugby Union.
Leading the charge in the tournament that will be staged at the RFUEA Grounds from 17-19 November will be the men’s national 7s team,
Shujaa, who will be hoping to defend the title they won in the 2021 edition
held at Nyayo National Stadium when they beat Germany 12-5 in an epic final.
Germany, the 2021 losing finalists, will return to the
country hoping to go one step better than they did last time out after being confirmed
as one of the participating teams. They will be joined by Uganda who are also
set to make their pilgrimage to the country.

United Kingdom’s trio consisting of Tropic 7s, Red Wailers
and Apache have also been included in the lineup and will be joined by Qatar as
some of the other international sides to take part in the 2023 edition of the
tournament.
Former champions Samurai will also feature in the tourney as
will Zambia, Zimbabwe and 2021 bronze place finishers Kenya Morans. 2023
National 7s Circuit champions KCB RFC will also take part in the competition.

In the women’s category, Kenya Lionesses will have two
sides, 1 and 2, who will be joined by Tropic 7s from the United Kingdom as well
as Uganda and TUKS Women.

About Safari 7s
The Safari Sevens is an annual rugby sevens tournament held
in Nairobi, Kenya. It is open to international representative sides,
professional and amateur clubs, invitational teams, university and school
teams.
The Safari 7s was last held in 2021 with the men’s national
rugby 7s team, Shujaa, claiming the title on home soil when they defeated
Germany 12-5 in an epic final. The 2022 edition was cancelled due to
unavoidable circumstances.
