SUMMARY
  • Gor Mahia failed to pick up the maximum points for a second game in a row after being held by Ulinzi Stars.
  • City Stars bounced back from disappointing results in their recent two games with a huge away win against Bandari.
  • Tusker was too hot to handle for relegation-threatened Shabana.

Match week 21 of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) was not as dramatic as expected.

Most of the clubs including Nairobi City Stars, Posta Rangers, Sofapaka and AFC Leopards picked up narrow wins or played to barren draws.

The Robert Matano-led Tusker FC side is the only club in the league that managed to run riot over their opponents.

Leopards who endured a rough start to the 2023/2024 season, picked up maximum points once again as they continue to climb up the FKFPL Log.

Ingwe’s win came at the expense of Murang’a Seal, whose problems seem to be getting worse each weekend. The central region-based side has now gone 11 matches without registering a win in the topflight league.

Here is a wrap of all the action witnessed in FKFPL match week 21.

Gor Mahia drop points against Ulinzi Stars

League leaders Gor Mahia FC failed to pick up the maximum points for a second game in a row after playing to a barren draw with Ulinzi Stars.

K'Ogalo tried their best to penetrate Ulinzi Stars defense in a match staged at the Machakos Stadium but their efforts were fruitless.

Benson Omala, who recently missed an opportunity to join Algerian side JS Saoura, started on the bench with head coach Jonathan McKinstry putting his trust on Christopher Ochieng to lead the attack.

Despite the disappointing draw, the record FKFPL champions remained at the helm of the FKFPL table with 44 points. On the other hand, Ulinzi Stars climbed to the 11th position, a point above Murang’a Seal.

Nairobi City Stars edge past Bandari to draw closer to Gor Mahia

Nairobi City Stars bounced back from disappointing results (1D 1L) in their recent two games with a huge win against a strong Bandari FC side on Saturday.

The Nicholas Muyoti-coached side defeated the coastal-based club 0-1 at the Mbaraki Grounds in Mombasa County.

The goal which came in the first half of the thrilling encounter was scored by Vincent Owino with the assist coming from Robinson Asenwa.

Tusker hit four past troubled Shabana FC

Finally, Tusker was too hot to handle for relegation threatened Shabana in a match played on Sunday at the Raila Odinga Stadium.

Tusker FC walloped the Kisii-based side 4-0 in a one-sided match to increase their chances of lifting the FKFPL trophy this season.
