FKF appoint new head coach for junior women's national team

According to a communique from FKF, Mildred Cheche will be the new head coach for the team.
- Cheche will work alongside Ann Aluoch.
- Cheche and Aluoch are among the few women in the country who hold the Confederation of African Football (CAF) B license.
- The duo were among over 20 coaches who took a four-month course last year at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE).
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) announced the appointment of
Mildred Cheche as the head coach of the U17 women’s national team.
According to a communique released on Monday from the Nick
Mwendwa-led federation, Cheche will work alongside Ann Aluoch.
“The Football Kenya Federation has named Mildred Cheche as
the new head coach of the Junior Starlets, the U17 women’s national team.
Ann Aluoch will assist her,” the statement from FKF read in part.

Cheche and Aluoch are among the few women in the country who
hold the Confederation of African Football (CAF) B license.
The duo were among over 20 coaches who took a four-month
course last year at the Kenya Institute of Special Education
(KISE).
The federation further divulged that Cheche will continue
serving as the assistant coach of the other national sides that she manages.
“In addition to her new role, Cheche currently serves as the assistant coach for the senior women’s national team, the Harambee Starlets, as well as the Rising Starlets,” the statement continued.

As for Aluoch, she will also go on with the women’s U15
national team assistant coach role.
Other individuals who have landed a job in the Junior
Starlets technical bench include Rebecca Auma (kit manager), Samuel Muringu
(video analyst), Esther Aluoch (physiotherapist) and Geoffrey Okoth (fitness
trainer).
Betty Meeme and Edith Macharia will serve as team manager
and team doctor respectively while Dick Francis has been assigned the
goalkeeper trainer task.

The changes come at a time when Junior Starlets are
preparing to clash with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the second
round of the 2024 FIFA U17 World Cup qualifiers.
Junior Starlets are slated to battle it out with DRC in the
first leg of the fixture on Sunday, February 4 before welcoming their opponents
to Nairobi on Sunday, February 11.
The 2024 FIFA U17 World Cup is expected to be hosted by the Dominican Republic between Wednesday October 16 and Sunday November 3.
