- He was also recently in Spain where he interacted with Great Britain’s sailing team.
- Kipchoge is doing the duties due to his connection with INEOS.
Eliud Kipchoge has been a busy man since representing Kenya
in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games on August 11.
The greatest marathon runner of all time paid a visit to Old
Trafford several hours before the mouthwatering Premier League clash between
Manchester United and Liverpool FC scheduled for Sunday evening.
In a short video posted on Instagram, Kipchoge is seen
holding a Manchester United home jersey inside the Theatre of Dreams, with his
surname and the numbers 1:59 printed on the back.
1:59 is associated with the Kaptagat-based athlete since he
is the only human being to have run a marathon, although unofficial, in less
than two hours.

Kipchoge achieved that incredible feat in October 2019 when
he crossed the finish line in 1:59.40 at the Ineos 1:59 challenge in Vienna,
Austria.
He went on to break his official marathon world record in
September 2022 after winning the Berlin Marathon in an impressive time of
2:01.09.
However, the world record only lasted for less than 13
months before it was smashed by the late Kelvin Kiptum.
Kiptum, who died in a road accident this year, produced an
extraordinary performance to lower the mark to 2:00.35 at the 2023 Chicago
Marathon.

Kipchoge’s visit to Old Trafford comes less than a week
after he traveled to Barcelona, Spain where he interacted with Great Britain’s
sailing team that is taking part in the 37th edition of the Louis Vuitton America’s
Cup.
During the visit, the two-time Olympic Games Gold medalist
interacted with the team and motivated them ahead of the universal event.
“My best advice is to believe in yourselves. Prepare and
plan well to execute but always believe and push hard. Trust is what bonds the
team. When you have trust within the team, that’s what pushes you to win,” he
advised.
Kipchoge, who is a Tottenham Hotspur fan, is expected to watch the Manchester United versus Liverpool fixture as he continues with his branding duties. The match will kick off at exactly 6 PM Kenyan time.
