Murang'a Seal head coach Vincent Nyaberi has insisted that the Kenya Premier League promotion play-off is far from over despite losing 2-1 to Wazito FC on Thursday.

Erick Balecho pulled one back for the visiting Seal side in the 80th minute at the Thika Stadium to set up a mouth-watering second leg clash.

Tyson Otieno gave the hosts the lead in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot in a frantic first half that saw Seal squander opportunities to take the lead.

The match was evenly poised for most of the second half with either side threatening to get one over their opponents.

It was not until the 76th minute that Curtis Wekesa broke past the Seal defense to give Wazito a comfortable 2-0 lead before Balecho struck with 10 minutes left on the clock.

"We played well today apart from a couple of defensive errors that we are going to work on before we get on the pitch this Sunday.

"I am happy we scored one goal so this means that there is still everything left to play for when we go home and we will give it our all in front of our fans," Nyaberi stated after the game.

Seal were handed the perfect opportunity to equalize in stoppage time after the referee pointed to the spot after Balecho was brought down in the box.

Dennis Wabwire, who was the highest scoring defender in the NSL, stepped up to take the spot kick but was unfortunate to see Omar Adisa save it.

Wazito finished the KPL in 16th place with 34 points, while Seal were third in the National Super League.

The 2-1 score means that Seal can progress with a slim 1-0 victory when the two teams lock horns again this Sunday at the St. Sebastian Park in Murang'a.
