Chinese company launches unique watch to celebrate Eliud Kipchoge’s legacy

The new watch was launched on Tuesday by Coros.

- Kenyans will have to part ways with a whopping $249 (approximately Ksh 38,000) to buy the watch.

Coros, a Chinese company specializing in performance sports
wearables, launched a one-of-a-kind watch on Tuesday in honor of Kenya’s double
Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge.
According to the manufacturer, the aim of the new watch is to celebrate Kipchoge’s incredible achievements which have inspired millions of people across the globe.
“There is no greater runner or ambassador for the sport of
running than Eliud Kipchoge. This limited edition of our award-winning Coros
Pace 3 celebrates his legend, his legacy, and his dream of a running world.

No matter how fast you are, Eliud believes that running is a
force for good. Beyond the obvious benefits of improving our health and
well-being, running has the power to enrich our lives and bring us closer
together,” a statement from the firm read in part.
On his part, Kipchoge took to social media to express his delight for being accorded such an honor with the watch featuring a design with the national Kenyan colors and Kipchoge's own signature.
“I am excited to share my new, limited edition Coros global
pace 3 watch, featuring my written signature and traditional Kenyan geometric
prints, inspired by a place I call home.
My dream has always been to make this world a running world,
whether you are just getting started, or running your next race,” stated the
Kaptagat-based runner.
The watch, which does not come cheap, has several unique features including the ability to provide detailed information on sleep recovery, incredible battery life, and an excellent navigation.
Moreover, it is water resistant allowing users to swim,
shower and sweat without any worries.
Kenyans will have to part ways with a whopping $249 (approximately Ksh 38,000) to buy the watch.
At the age of 39, Kipchoge is in line to make his final
Olympic Games appearance at the upcoming 2024 Paris edition scheduled to start
from July.
The multiple world marathon majors’ series winner has already started his preparation for the event where he is expected to represent Kenya alongside the likes of the recently crowned world record holder Kelvin Kiptum who is expected to be among his toughest challenger.

Should Kipchoge win a gold medal at the games, he will enter into history books as the first man to win three back-to-back Olympic titles and further cement his name as the greatest of all time.
