SUMMARY
  • Gor Mahia take on Al Hilal in their final Group B game on Tuesday.
  • K'Ogalo are yet to win in the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2024 after two matches (D1 L1).
  • Al Hilal have won all their two games.

When record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia take on Al Hilal in their final Group B game at the CECAFA Kagame Cup 2024 taking place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, new Brazilian tactician Leo Neiva will be a man not too keen on the outcome of the clash set for the Azam Complex on Tuesday afternoon.

The Sudanese giants, coached by the legendary Florent Ibenge who won the 21/22 CAF Confederation Cup with Moroccan side RS Berkane, are one of the top teams in the continent and have already showed their class by beating Djibouti Telecom 2-0 in their first match before thrashing Red Arrows 5-0 in their second game while playing some impressive football.

K’Ogalo on the other hand lost 1-0 against Red Arrows before being frustrated to a 1-1 draw against Djibouti Telecom, results that ensured their journey in the regional competition will end in the group stage.

Neiva, who will be managing just his third game since taking over at the start of July, noted that he will be out to measure a couple of things from his players ahead of their 24/25 CAF Champions League journey.

“First of all I want to check the behaviour, character and attitude of the players (against Al Hilal). We should be more aggressive without the ball and also with the ball. Secondly, I want to see how our tactics have developed in that match which is the key point.

About the result, we can win, lose or draw but the key point is about the tactical adaptation. We will obviously try to win the game, but our focus is not the CECAFA Kagame Cup but the CAF Champions League. I want to see our tactical adaptation, development and how we increase the level,” he told SportPesa News.

The head coach also called on his side to show what they have in a match that will provide them with a good test.

"I am satisfied with how we did our last final training session which was almost perfect. Al Hilal will be a tough game for us because we will be playing against the best level of African football.

I am very pleased about that because that level will help us to adopt and then it is a very good preparation for us for the CAF Champions League because that is the level we will be against,” he concluded.
