Bandari suffer setback as key striker undergoes surgery ahead of Gor encounter

Third-placed Bandari host leaders Gor with ten points separating the two sides.

Bandari FC has suffered an early setback after talented
forward Derrick Nsibambi underwent surgery ahead of Gor Mahia's encounter.
The dockers confirmed that their Ugandan striker underwent
successful surgery on Wednesday, March 6 at the Aga Khan hospital with preliminary
reports indicating that the striker is set to be ruled out for six months.
"Forward Derrick Nsibambi underwent shoulder surgery at
Aga Khan Hospital. He is expected to be discharged on Thursday. Join us in
wishing him a speedy recovery," the FKF side posted without revealing how
long he would be on the sidelines.

Nsibambi picked up the injury in their 1-0 defeat to Nairobi
City Stars at Mbaraki Grounds. The former KCCA FC and Vipers player came out
worse in a collision with City Stars goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe in a match that City Stars went
on to win courtesy of Vincent Owino's strike.
Following the collision, Bandari's head coach John Baraza
expressed worry noting that the striker would be out for several weeks. Baraza
could not hide disappointment indicating that Nsibambi was a key player to the
dockers.
Nsibambi who was among the club's top scorers this campaign having netted more than five goals and was among the key players who were expected to cause Gor Mahia's backline trouble ahead of their encounter.
However, following the surgery, Baraza is expected to field
another striker in a bid to stop the mighty K'Ogalo.

How both teams performed in the last games
Gor Mahia continued with their FKF league hunt after
thrashing Posta Rangers 4-0 on Saturday afternoon to open a 10-point gap at the
summit of the table.
The Johnathan McKinstry-coached side scored three goals in
the second half to get the job done in a crunch clash played at Machakos
Stadium.
Benson Omalla opened the scoring in the seventh minute and
extended his goal tally to eleven goals this season.

In the second half, Sylvester Owino doubled K'Ogalo's
through a corner while Austin Odhiambo grabbed a brace to seal Gor's victory.
Bandari on the other side outshined Shabana in Machakos by
putting two behind the net. Francis Kahiro, a mid-season transfer signing from
FC Talanta, scored the opening goal in the 35th minute, with Atariza Meja
taking credit for an assist.
Tore Bore conceded the second goal when Fredrick Odhiambo
scored for the Dockers.
Bandari is third in the league standings with 40 points, 10 behind Gor Mahia who they are going to face on Saturday.
