NAIROBI, Kenya-
Former Harambee Stars Coach Adel Amrouche has shown interest in the job
following the termination of Frenchman Sebastian Migne’s contract on mutual
consent.
The news of Migne’s
departure came merely a week after Kenya was knocked out of the 2020 African
Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers by neighbors Tanzania.
The Football Kenya
Federation (FKF) confirmed the news on Monday and President Nick Mwendwa went
ahead to assure the country that there will be a new Stars coach by this week.
“FKF and Harambee
Stars coach Sebastien Migne have agreed to terminate the coach’s contract on
mutual consent,” said the statement signed by FKF acting Chief Executive
Officer (CEO) Barry Otieno.

The fact that Migne
guided Kenya to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Egypt after a 15-year hiatus
was not enough for Kenyans to flaw his tactical approach and questionable
fielding of players.
Harambee Stars
finished third in Group C at the AFCON finals, a group that eventually provided both
finalists, Senegal and eventual winners Algeria.
Kenya was knocked
out of the local-based players' tournament by Taifa Stars, who beat them 4-1 on
penalties at Kasarani Stadium on August 4 after both sides drew
0-0 in regular time of the return leg tie.
“We started the
search of a new coach immediately after coach Migne left.
“We have the AFCON
qualifiers coming up hence the decision to have a new coach in place. We want
to do well in the qualifiers again and also make it to the finals for the
second time in a row,” FKF President Mwendwa stated.

The 46-year old
tactician lost the support of the Kenyan faithful after his decisions were
questioned and the termination of his contract comes a week after he stated
that it would be “too expensive” for Kenya to lose his services.
Migne replaced
Belgian Paul Put as coach of the national team and as for his replacement,
Amrouche who was in charge of Kenya back in 2013, has made it clear that if the
offer presents itself, he would gladly take it.
“I know there is a
vacancy in Kenya but no one has approached me yet, but if they come for my
services I will gladly take the offer. I would love to work in Kenya again; it
is a beautiful country with very nice people,” the Algerian coach stated.
