Homeboyz Hold Leopards In Machakos, Agwanda Powers Sony Over Mathare

The battle between Chemelil Sugar FC, who entertained Posta Rangers FC at Chemelil Complex, also ended in a barren draw

  •  AFC Leopards SC battled to a 1-1 draw against visiting Kakamega Homeboyz FC in a SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday afternoon
  • The draw saw Leopards climbed to tenth with 27 points while Homeboyz moved to fifth with 34

  • At the same time, Sony Sugar FC beat hosts Mathare United FC 2-1 at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani in Nairobi to move to sixth in the standings.

NAIROBI, Kenya- AFC Leopards SC battled to a 1-1 draw against visiting Kakamega Homeboyz FC in a SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match staged at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Wednesday afternoon.

Whyvonne Isuza  put  Leopards on the lead in the ninth minute but this was cancelled by Jairus Adira who notched an own goal five minutes later.

The draw saw Leopards climbed to tenth with 27 points while Homeboyz moved to fifth with 34.

“I’m glad we dominated the game, both offensive and defensive. I was expecting three points in the match but one is not bad.

“We are going to sharpen our striking force in the course of the week as we look forward to win the next game,” Leopards coach  Andre Cassa Mbungo underlined.

His opposite number, Nicholas Muyoti praised his charges for a job well done  after they emerged with a point from Machakos.

“The long journey took toll on us but we managed to settle in the game and denied our opponents victory. Leopards is a strong team but we showed character. We will keep up with our resilience as we hope for a top four finish in the league,” Muyoti underscored.

At the same time, Sony Sugar FC beat hosts Mathare United FC 2-1 at Moi International Sports Center Kasarani in Nairobi to move to sixth in the standings.

Goals by Daniel Otieno and Enock ‘Buffalo’ Agwanda in the 27th and 34th minutes in that order ensured the millers got the deserved victory from Mathare who remained in fourth with 35.

Second placed Sofapaka FC and Ulizi Stars FC (11th) battled to a barren draw in the other double header fixture in Machakos.

It was also the same outcome for Chemelil Sugar FC who entertained  Posta Rangers FC at the Chemelil Complex.
