KAKAMEGA, Kenya- AFC Leopards SC continued their steady rise on the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) table as they did extremely well to disarm Ulinzi Stars FC 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Speedy winger Brian Marita pounced onto a defensive error to slot the ball past Ulinzi goalkeeper James Saruni in the 48th for the only goal of the game.
The victory takes Leopards into 11th place with 26 points, one more than the losers on the day who are in 13th after back to back defeats.

Posta started off
well with an opening goal in the second minute and it took Robert Achema until
the 38th to find the equalizing goal for the sugar millers.
Despite resolute defending
by the mailmen, Sony patiently continued to search for an opening and it paid
off with a winning goal four minutes from time.
The win sees them jump into sixth on the SPL table with 31, 13 off league leaders Gor Mahia FC, out of domestic duty due to their CAF Confederations Cup quarterfinal at home to RS Berkane.
Elsewhere, Bandari FC battled to a slim 1-0 victory over SportPesa Cup winners Kariobangi Sharks FC in a repeat final played at the Mbaraki Stadium.
Midfield sensation Abdallah Hassan was the savior for Bernard Mwalala's side as he scored in his second successive match in the 75th minute.
Bandari remain third after second place Sofapaka FC were also victorious on Sunday with a 2-0 dismissal of Zoo FC at the Kericho Green Stadium.
Sofapaka reduced the point gap between them and leaders Gor to four points, but Batoto Ba Mungu have played two games more than the SPL champions.
Kakamega Homeboyz FC cemented their fifth-place standing on the log with yet another convincing victory after they beat Chemelil Sugar FC 2-0 in Kakamega.
The defeat leaves Chemelil four points above the relegation zone in 14th.
Bottom side Mt. Kenya United FC were given a 6-1 drubbing at the hands of Nzoia Sugar FC, making their struggle to escape relegation seem almost impossible.
Mt. Kenya missed from the spot in the first half and then scored from a penalty three minutes later but trailed 3-1 at the break.
Nzoia then scored three more after the restart for a commanding victory, the biggest one of the SPL weekend, giving them a better goal difference in 12th than Ulinzi.
