SUMMARY
  • The head coach change was made after Police's difficult start to the season.
  • The law enforcers have not won any game in the four matches they have played so far (3D 1L).
  • Baraza was at the club for less than ten months before his sacking.

Kenya Premier League side Police FC have officially unveiled experienced tactician Zdravko Logarusic as their new head coach after parting ways with Francis Baraza who barely lasted one year at the club having joined in December 2022.

Logarusic, who has had stints at record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, will be assisted by former Nzoia Sugar head coach Salim Babu who is also new having joined just before the start of the 2023/24 Football Kenya Federation Premier League.

During his stint at Gor, Logarusic narrowly missed the title on the final day of the season after being held by Thika United.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony, Police FC chairman Nyale Munga described Logarusic as the right man for the task with Police languishing in 16th place having failed to record any win this season (3D 1L).

“Logarusic is a tactician of the highest repute in this world. He is known all over. He has been here before. We expect that he is going to rejuvenate our team,’’ Munga said.

On his part, a confident Logarusic stated that he is ready for the job saying, “Police FC called me and I know why they called me. I have to do what I have to do.”

The Croatian will take charge of his first match this weekend against a high-flying Bidco United side.

The clash is scheduled to take place at the Police Sacco Stadium from 3:00pm.

Police also received a huge boost ahead of their mouth-watering encounter with Bidco United slated for Saturday, September 30, 2023.

This is after the law enforcers were awarded Ksh 1,000,000 by one of the local air service providers on Thursday evening.

“Earlier today 748 Air Services presented a Ksh 1 million cheque to the team. Thank you for your contribution and support,” a statement from the club read.

This season Police, who finished in third position last season, have not registered a single win in the opening four games played in this campaign as they currently sit 16th in the KPL log with three points, four less than Bidco United.
