Kiptum, Kipyegon make 2024 Paris Olympic Games predictions

The duo are expected to be among Kenya's headline acts in the 2024 Games.

- Kiptum is expected to make his first appearance in the 2024 Olympic Games.
- Kipyegon is in line for her fourth games in France.
Kenyan world record holders Faith Kipyegon and Kelvin Kiptum have made their predictions ahead of the eagerly anticipated 2024 Olympic Games.
When asked about their bold predictions for the Olympic Games which is scheduled to take place in Paris, France from Friday, July 26 to Sunday, August 11, the duo envisioned podium-place finishes.
According to Kiptum, he foresees himself winning a medal in the marathon discipline in what would be his first ever medal for Kenya in what is expected to be his first appearance in the summer games.

The 2022 Valencia marathon champion is however expected to face a tough battle from two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge who is bidding to become the first man in history to win a hat trick of Olympic titles following his Rion 2016 and Tokyo 2020 success.
On her part, Kipyegon envisages running the 1500m race in a slower time than the current world record she set this year in Florence.
“I think in 1500, I am going to run, I don’t know but 3:54,” commented the recently named world athlete of the year in track events.

Should Kipyegon bag the 1500m title in Paris, it would be her third gold medal in the event, something which has never been done before in the history of the Olympic Games.
When asked about their pieces of advice to upcoming runners, Kipyegon noted that patience is the most essential ingredient.
“I think being patient is the most important thing. Be patient, work hard and maintain discipline,” she commented.
Kipyegon also revealed that her favorite athlete is Jamaican international Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.

“Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce when she runs 100m. She really motivates me where she has come from and where she is now. She’s still going,” said the Kaptagat-based speedster
Meanwhile, Kiptum, who stopped the watch at 2:00.35 in the streets of Chicago a few weeks ago, to break Kipchoge’s marathon record urged youngsters to focus on training and keep on working because everything is achievable.
Kipyegon told the World Athletics that she enjoys eating Chapati and Nyama choma (roasted meat).
On the other hand, Kiptum credited his record-breaking performances to eating Ugali (Kenyan cornmeal).
“I love Ugali. It helps with the carbohydrates and energy of course,” commented the reigning London and Chicago Marathons champion.
