Kenya humble Angola to set date with Cameroon in U20 World Cup qualifiers

The Rising Starlets will now play West African side Cameroon in the third round.
- The Rising Starlets hammered the hosts 0-4 in a match staged at the Estádio 22 de Junho in Luanda to win the game 10-1 on aggregate.
- Following the win, Rising Starlets will now play West African side Cameroon in the next round.
- The latter put 4 past Botswana in the second leg to proceed to the next round with a 6-1 aggregate win.

The Kenya U20 women's national football team, Rising Starlets, advanced to the next round of the Under 20 Women's World Cup qualifiers thanks to a comfortable victory over Angola on Saturday 14 October 2023.
The Rising Starlets hammered the hosts 0-4 in a match staged at the Estádio 22 de Junho in Luanda to win the game 10-1 on aggregate.
Red hot forward Valerie Nekesa, who is a student at Butere Girls, opened the scoring for Kenya in the 6th minute before the Beldine Odemba coached side extended their lead to 0-2 via Anna Arusi's 36th minute goal.

In the second half, Rising Starlets started from where they had left with Arusi bagging her brace in the 57th minute.
There was still time for one more strike in the one-sided affair and it came through Charity Midewa who scored the fourth goal that sealed the emphatic victory.
Nekesa, whose signature is being sought after by several club inside and outside the country, ended the encounter with four goals, having netted a hat-trick during the first leg.
Following the win, Rising Starlets will now play West African side Cameroon in the next round.

The upcoming fixture will be a repeat of the AWCON Seniors qualifiers where Kenya beat Cameroon on penalties at the Nyayo National Stadium.
