Gor Mahia to unveil brand new bus on Saturday

The bus was donated to the club by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.

Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia will officially present their brand-new team bus to the public on Saturday 11 November 2023 at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, club chairman Ambrose Rachier has confirmed.

The 20-time Kenyan league champions will be receiving the customized 42-seater from current Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy Eliud Owalo who followed through on his promise to buy the club a new bus after the previous one was auctioned by former player Wellington Ochieng due to salary arrears owed to him.

In a presser on Tuesday, Rachier revealed the bus, that has already been registered by the National Transport and Safety Authority, was donated to the team by the Eliud Owalo Foundation and will be officially handed over in an unveiling ceremony set for Saturday morning in Kasarani.

“We want to thank Honorable Eliud Owalo and his friends who have made it possible to acquire the club bus. The customized bus has already been registered and will be handed over to the club in an official unveiling ceremony on Saturday,” he stated.

Painted in Gor Mahia’s green home colours, the Isuzu bus had its capacity reduced from 67 to 42 seats for purposes of comfort during long distance travels and has five VIP seats. It has also been fitted with WI-FI and air conditioning facilities.


On the back of another instance of the bus being possibly sold again should matters touching on finances arise, Rachier promised that the club had put in place measures to stop such happenings in future.

The club has been registered as KDN 068N with the 68 reflecting the year the club was founded back in 1968.
