Gor Mahia right back handed debut as Firat names Harambee Stars squad for Russia friendly

English-based Vincent Harper who plays for EFL League One side Exeter City has also been given a first time callup.

Harambee Stars’ head coach Engin Firat has unveiled the 23-man squad that will play against 2018 World Cup hosts Russia in an international friendly match set to be played on Monday 16 October 2023 in Antalya, Turkey
The squad has a blend of local and international-based players, with Vincent Harper, who plies his trade in the English Football League (EFL) League One, handed his debut to the national team alongside Gor Mahia right back Rooney Onyango.
Tusker’s Brian Bwire, South Africa-based Ovella Ochieng, and AFC Leopards’ Cliffton Miheso are returning to the squad after missing the last round of selection.
Captain Michael Olunga, Masud Juma, Joseph Okumu, Brian Mandela, Johnstone Omurwa, Eric Ouma, Amos Nondi, Richard Odada, and Teddy Akumu are some of the players forming the foreign-based contingent.
To prepare for the final friendly ahead of their 2026 World Cup Qualifiers that begin in November this year, the team will travel on Monday 9 October 2023, before they camp in Turkey.
