Gor Mahia, Ingwe land kind opponents as FKF Cup draw is released

K'Ogalo will face lower tier side Denmak from Kwale while Ingwe will take on PAC University.

Kenyan football clubs discovered their opponents for the
preliminary round of the 2024 Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Cup on Wednesday,
January 17.
The draw which was held at the Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) was aired live on the FKF Facebook page.
According to FKF, more than 30 clubs showed interest in the tournament which is expected to start on Saturday, February 24.

“38 clubs have expressed interest in participating in the knockout competition, that is, 14 FKF Premier League clubs, 6 FKF National Super League clubs, 4 FKF Division One clubs, and 14 regional clubs,” the press issued by the federation read in part.
Gor Mahia, who have opened a seven-point gap at the top of the national league, will square out with the little-known Denmak FC from Kwale
K’Ogalo, who were eliminated in the quarter finals last year, last won the title in 2021 when they beat arch rivals AFC Leopards, and will be looking to battle for the crown once again.
In other fixtures, defending cup champions Kakamega Homeboyz will entertain Solian City while KCB FC will battle it out with the Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA).

Homeboyz narrowly won the title last year after beating Tusker FC 1-0 in a closely contested final staged at the Moi International Sports Centre (MISC) Kasarani in a win that saw them book a ticket to continental football for the first time in their history.
As for the Brewers, they have been paired with Bumbani Stars with AFC Leopards expected to gauge themselves against PAC University.
Meanwhile Kariobangi Sharks will lock horns with Nyamira Super Eagles as they seek to bag the coveted title.
The champions of the FKF Cup will represent the nation in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) cup.

With 38 teams registering for this year’s showpiece, 26 have been given a bye to the round of 32, while the remaining 12 were drawn to play in the preliminary rounds.
Premier League sides Bandari FC, Posta Rangers, Kenya Police FC and FC Talanta will all start in the preliminary round, though with lower tier sides.
The preliminary round matches will be played on January 27, while the round of 32 will be played on February 24 and 25.
