FKFPL Wrap: Ingwe suffer late heartbreak, Gor end winless run as Shabana woes persist

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) resumed
over the weekend after a two-week international break with a lot of drama.
There were a number of late goals and brilliant display of skills from across the different venues with some of the big names able to get onto the scoring sheet as struggling clubs continued from where they left.

Gor Mahia’s goal machine Benson Omala finally found his goal-scoring boots after a four-match drought to help his side secure three vital points.
Meanwhile, Shabana’s misery continued as the Kisii-based club suffered a 3-1 demolition at the hands of Posta Rangers who continued their impressive form with another win. Here is a wrap of all the action from matchday 12.
Gor Overcome Muhoroni Youth in Historic Match
Gor Mahia’s first-ever match at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County went according to plan.
The record FKFPL champions overcame a spirited Muhoroni Youth FC side 0-2 in a match attended by thousands of fans, including their patron Raila Odinga and the area Governor Gladys Wanga.
Gor took the lead earlier in the first half through Omala, with Christopher Ochieng completing the win in the 93rd minute.
After the match, the two clubs received a monetary donation from the former Prime Minister. Gor Mahia were awarded Ksh 1,000,000 while Muhoroni Youth pocketed Ksh 500,000 despite the loss.

Late Sofapaka sucker punch denies Ingwe second win of the season
12-time Kenyan champions AFC Leopards looked set to collect their second win of the season but victory was snatched right from under their noses with a last minute Sofapaka strike.
Brian Yakhama opened the scoring for AFC Leopards in the 67th minute but Humphrey Mieno equalized for Sofapaka in the 90+2nd minute with an incredible scissor kick that forced a 1-1 draw.
The result left Ingwe with only one win in twelve games (D4 L7) as their search for a win stretched to four games (D3 L1).

KCB end Murang’a Seal’s seven match unbeaten streak
Murang’a Seal had a weekend to forget after their 2-1 painful defeat to KCB FC ended their seven match unbeaten streak (4W 3D). The Bankers took the lead 12 minutes into the first half through Francis Kahiro’s superb header before Haniff Wesonga put them in control shortly after the break.
Awita Batts scored the consolation goal in the 89th minute but it came too late for the Gabriel ‘Kingi’ Njoroge coached side. The beating made the central region-based club to drop from third to fifth in the FKFPL standings as Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB climbed leapfrogged them.
Oscar Paul netted Homeboyz’ winner in the 90th minute to stun the hosts Ulinzi FC at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Langata.
Paul’s and Wesonga’s eye-catching performances in the two games ensured they went home with the man of the match awards.

Posta Rangers demolish Shabana to stay top
Posta Rangers maintained their good run this season as they maintained their position at the summit of the log after hammering minnows Shabana FC 3 -1 in an entertaining match played at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Rangers’ goals came courtesy of Felix Oluoch, Ongiri Erick and Brian Otieno with Eugene Mukangula finding the back of the net for the visitors.
Elsewhere, Tusker FC and neighbors Bidco United are expected to square it out in the remaining fixture of the week on Tuesday, November 28.
