DURBAN, South Africa- Cape Town City FC beat SuperSport United 4-1 on post-match penalties to be crowned MTN8 champions at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

Cape Town City FC have never won the MTN8 title before and former Bafana Bafana midfielder Teko Modise made true his vow to steer his side to glory.

Both sides failed to find the back of the net in regulation and extra time, prompting the repeat of last year’s final to be decided by spot kicks.

The triumph is the first for Cape Town City FC manager Benni McCarthy and the club was rewarded with a whopping eight million rand for their magnificent performance.
