KERICHO, Kenya- Zoo Kericho FC capitalised on the sending off of 2016 SportPesa Premier League (SPL) Goalkeeper of the Year Jairus Adira to sink visiting Chemelil Sugar 2-0 at the Kericho Green Stadium on Sunday.
Kenya U20 international Nicholas Kipkirui opened the scoring in the 14th minute to give the home team early advantage before Adira was shown a straight red card on the stroke of half time.
Zoo, buoyed by hundreds of fans who cheered every home touch doubled the scores in the 69th through Ernest Korir in a game where Congolese forward Demonde Selenga made his debut after being brought on for Bernard Odhiambo with quarter of the game to go.
The former SPL giants Gor Mahia FC and AFC Leopards SC player came in the June transfer window and helped his side to hold on for maximum points that took Zoo to 13th on 18 points.
Chemelil, who are only three points above their opponents, face Thika United FC at home while Zoo travel to Kariobangi Sharks FC in the next round of games.
