NAIROBI, Kenya-Vihiga Queens FC are poised to win the Kenya Women’s Premier League (WPL) Zone B for the second year in a row after drubbing Wadadia FC 6-2 over the weekend.
Forward Teresa Engesia went on goal-scoring rampage, netting five to leave the Vihiga County-sponsored side needing only a draw to confirm their status as Zone B winners.
“For those who have been following the team over the last couple of seasons, they are aware of our determination and hunger during matches. I believe hard work pays,” the forward remarked.
Engesia hailed the contributions of quartet of Phoebe Owiti, Lilian Adera, Lilian Awour and Corazone Aquino who have been capped by the senior and junior Harambee Starlets for adding the star-dust to Vihiga’s charge.
“They bring width and depth to the team. They make us complete,” added Engesia who has plundered an astonishing 12 goals in her last three games.
“We are not worried going to the last match of the campaign. Our business was wrapped long time ago,” noted the experienced tactician,” head coach Alex Alumira charged.
A win of any kind for Oserian Ladies will take them joint top level on 30 points with Vihiga but they face a tall order of scoring more than 12 goals to surpass the league leaders’ goal difference.
