NAIROBI, Kenya- As the 2018 Kenya Premier League (KPL) season got underway over the weekend. Champions Gor Mahia FC picked up where they left off with a 4-0 drubbing of Nakumatt FC on Saturday.

On Sunday, coastal side Bandari FC shocked big-spending Sofapaka FC with a 3-0 victory as Mathare United FC came from behind to beat newcomers Vihiga United FC 2-1.

In rugby, Shujaa inched up a place to eighth on the 2017/18 HSBC Sevens World Series standings following a sixth finish at the Hamilton 7s on Sunday.

Another proud moment for every Kenyan came in the English Premier League as substitute Victor Wanyama came off the bench to score a stunning equaliser for Tottenham Hotspur FC in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Anfield. The Harambee Stars captain, hit a thunderous right-footed half volley from 25-yards, definitely a contender for goal of the season.

In other news, Olympics chief Thomas Bach called for reforms to the Court of Arbitration for Sports citing disappointment on the lifting of life bans imposed on 29 Russian atheletes.

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea- Olympics chief Thomas Bach called for reforms to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Sunday as he slammed its “extremely disappointing” decision to lift life bans for doping imposed on 28 Russian athletes.
