Thika United has promoted three players from its Under 20 team to the senior team, reports the club’s official website.
Striker Francis Muturi, winger James Mazembe and midfielder James Kinyanjui have all been handed senior team credits, having impressed for the club’s junior side.
Muturi has been training with the team since finishing his high school studies at at Tetu High in 2015, while Mazembe, who has in the past featured for Zoo Kericho’s Junior team, and Kinyanjui both finished their O-Level studies this year from Kakamega High School and Passenga respectively.
The trio represented Thika in the KPL U-20 tournaments in April and August, and are currently in the Kenyan national U-20 team’s provisional squad camping at the Kasarani Stadium. The three are expected to join the team in training early January, but with the transfer window already open, they can finalise the paperwork and deal with other formalities in the interim.
Thika were ranked 12th at the end of the 2016 season, and are restructuring the squad for a better start next year.
