Sholei to vie for FKF top seat if cleared by Sport Dispute Tribunal.
Suspended Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President Sam Sholei will vie for the FKF top seat if Sports Dispute Tribunal rules in his favour in a case where he want his suspension by FKF nullified.
Sholei who was present during the mention of the case challenging his six year suspension from all football activities in the country said he will not back any candidate in the October elections if he’s given the go-ahead to run for the seat. Shollei says he was under pressure to support Hussein Mohammed in the last elections.
“Last time we made a big mistake, first I was away in the US three weeks to the election day and there was too much pressure to step down for Hussein (Mohammed). I will not do that again,” said Sholei.
Sholei who was represented Lawyer Roland Oyieko of Onyango Oyieko Advocates forced the chairman to reconstitute the five man panel when they raised ‘remote discomfort’ with Elyna Shiveka sitting in the panel to start hearing the case in 14 days.
“You honour my client has a remote discomfort with her (Shiveka) inclusion in the panel because ‘she has a rich history with some members of the sporting federations and for that ‘we are uncomfortable.’ said Oyieko.
Shiveka who is also Kenya Hockey Union vice chairlady was replaced by Gichuru Kiplagat in the panel that also consists of tribunal chairman John Ohaga, Njeri Onyango and Gabriel Ouko.
FKF is represented by Ken Ombati who was given until June 18 to serve complainant with his papers. Sholei is expected to respond within 14 days after which the panel will set the hearing date not latter than one or two weeks after service.
Other cases mentioned in the Monday May 18 sitting were Kenya National Paralympics Committee vs Ministry of Sport, Commissioner of Sports and Charles Kuria and Susan Kuria vs Kenya Bowling Association.
