Kenya collected five points at the Glasgow Sevens after failing to make it to the main cup quarter finals yet again. The best for the team was reaching the bowl semi finals where they lost 7-24 to Argentina.
The five points pushed the season’s total for the Kenya team to 38 as they head to the final tournament of the season in London.
Kenya is now ranked a poor 13th in the IRB world series. While this might seem a poor show considering the previous performances by the Kenya team, Kenya has secured its core status in the IRB sevens for another season. This means the team will once again play in all the tournaments of the IRB sevens season.
Kenya had earlier beaten Portugal 12-0 in the bowl quarterfinal, with Collins Injera and Billy Odhiambo touching down and Biko Adema converting one of the two tries.
Fiji won the main cup title with a 24-17 win over New Zealand to go top of the series log with 147 points, five clear of South Africa and eight clear of New Zealand.
In London Kenya has landed another tough grouping, this time in Pool C with hosts England, Scotland and Brazil.
