NAIROBI, Kenya- SportPesa Premier League (SPL) side Posta Rangers FC Head Coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has taken time off his duties to mourn his father who passed on Monday.
The 2011 title winning coach with Tusker FC delivered the sad news in a post on Facebook after his father Dishon Omollo passed away after a short illness.
“Morning friends, I have just lost the Pillar of my life, my Dad this morning …Dishon OMOLLO..R.I.P dad,” the coach wrote.
Rangers chairman John Tonui offered support to the coach who has led his team to fourth on the SPL log having seen his side recover from 2-0 down to force a 2-2 draw at Thika United on Saturday.
“We are saddened by the loss of our coach’s dad. We are firmly behind his family during this difficult moment in life,” Tonui told SportPesa News on Monday.
Retired Kenyan international, Boniface Ambani gave a moving tribute to his former colleague.
“My condolences to the family of Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo. You just lost your dear father. It’s quite hard. Death strikes when you least expect.
“You were in a jovial mood yesterday (Sunday) as we played together a team from Juja where you got a slight knock and we joked about it and parted ways.
“Losing another parent a few months after losing your mum is sad. Death has hit you guys hard once again. We are sorry and we will pray for you during these trying moments,” Ambani wrote on Facebook.
