Ouma, Muregi, Ombasa To Link Up With Shujaa In Cape Town

NAIROBI, Kenya- Oscar Ouma, Samuel Muregi and Erick Ombasa will link up with Shujaa on Tuesday ahead of the second leg of the 2017/18 HSBC Sevens World Series, in Cape Town this weekend.

The trio come in as cover for Dennis Ombachi (ankle) and Collins Injera (hamstring) who were ruled out of action on day one of the season opening Emirates Dubai 7s last Friday.

Ouma who was unavailable for the Dubai leg, is a seasoned campaigner on the world series while Muregi, 22 and Ombasa, 20, who play form Menengai Oilers will be making their debuts at the World Series.

The latter pair excelled at the 2017 Kenya National Sevens Circuit and were invited to train with Shujaa in the camp in Nanyuki.

Shujaa finished seventh and scooped 10 points after losing 19-12 in the fifth-place semi-final to Australia to give them a solid platform ahead of the Cape Town 7s that will be played at Cape Town Stadium in South Africa.

Kenya had earlier finished second in Pool A behind eventual tournament winners South Africa before losing 14-12 to New Zealand in the Main Cup quarterfinal.

Once again, Shujaa was placed in Pool A for the Cape Town 7s with hosts South Africa, France and Russia.
