NAIROBI,Kenya-Posta Rangers FC head coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo has hinted at tweaking his line up ahead of the rescheduled SportPesa Premier League (SPL) match against Kariobangi Sharks FC on Wednesday.
The mailmen have been on a downward spiral having gone for seven without a win; a wretched run that has seen their title challenge crumble as they sunk from the top to seventh on the log.
Rangers have been blunt upfront and the goal-drought is worrying the 2011 SPL title winner with Tusker FC.
“Our undoing has been converting chances. My defence line will remain the same because we have kept two clean sheets in two. I see no need of changing it. However, I will try something new upfront to see if we can get a goal or two,” noted the former Kenyan international.
They will be coming up against a vastly improved Sharks side that has kept five clean sheets on the trot and Omollo has predicted a testing outing at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
“At the moment, Sharks are the best team. Looking at where they came from I think it’s only the new team in the league doing well. They have young energetic players and I expect a tough affair,” he added.
His opposite number William Muluya is brimming with confidence as he welcomes back top striker Masoud Juma from suspension.
“Juma was missed because whenever he is on the pitch, his work rate and effort is comparable to none. I’m sure he would have converted one of the chances we had in our last game,” Muluya told SportPesa News.
Posta on 37 points are one adrift of Sharks and will be without first choice keeper; Patrick Matasi due to suspension. The Kenyan international was handed a two match ban for picking his fifth yellow card in the goalless draw against Ulinzi Stars FC last Sunday.
For this and in addition of the red card received against Nzoia Sugar FC at Ruaraka grounds on July 14, Matasi will also miss the next match versus Thika United FC on Saturday.
His understudy Farouk Shikhalo will most likely be lined up for his third game of the season.
