NAIROBI, Kenya- Gabriel Ochieng and Consolata Musanga are the proud owners of Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) titles after emerging victorious at a Team Boxing Promotion held at Impala Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday night.
Ochieng won the vacant UBO International Bantamweight belt after he knocked out Ramadhan Kumbele of Tanzania in the second round.
“I prepared well because I was expecting a serious fight, my opponent was very erratic and so I capitalized on that to punish him,” underlined Ochieng after the one sided bout.
The former national Super Flyweight champion won his first international diadem when he knocked out Mubaraka Sseguya of Uganda for the vacant East and Central African Professional Boxing Federation Bantamweight Title in Ugunja, Siaya County in 2014.
Likewise, Musanga knocked out Rehema Abdallah in the second round of the six-round title fight to lift the vacant UBO International Female Lightweight category.
Ruthless Musanga pounced on her visibly smaller opponent with no mercy with the latter struggling to land a punch on Musanga who was better in all department but it was all in vain.
At the same time, Kenya’s Aziz Kolombo made his professional debut with a win.
The Kenya Prisons pugilist knocked out Uganda’s Charles Kakande in the fifth round to bag the non-title cruiser weight division.
Global Boxing Union title holder, Daniel Wanyonyi, also overpowered Jacob Maganga of Tanzania by knocking out the latter in the first round of their Super Middleweight non-title contest.
