NAIROBI, Kenya – Posta Rangers FC top scorer, Dennis Mukaisi says the SportPesa Premier League (SPL) high fliers have the necessary manpower to challenge for a maiden title.
The former Tusker FC player, who won the crown with the Brewers in 2011 says second-placed Rangers can seal an improbable triumph at the end of the season.
“If it is about experience, we have lots of it. If it is about winning, the team is made up of winners, starting with our coach,” said the forward, who has netted six times for the mailmen.
Although the Rangers suffered a shock defeat to Nzoia Sugar FC last week, Mukaisi is confident the team will get back to their winning ways.
Jerry Santo, Joseph Mbugi, Luke Ochieng and Jockins Atudo are the other experienced heads in the Rangers squad coached by Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo who led the Brewers to the 2011 SPL title.
Midfielder Santo who has been capped by national team Harambee Stars has featured for SPL champions Tusker, leaders Gor Mahia FC, Hoang Anh Gia Lai (Vietname) and Coastal Union and Simba SC (both Tanzania) in the past.
Mbugi previously turned out for Tusker after a stint with ex-SPL side Mahakama FC, while Atudo has also played for the Brewers, Sony Sugar FC and Tanzanian Vodacom Premier League titans Azam FC.
Ochieng is a former Gor, Tusker and National Super League side KCB FC player.
“We started the season in the strongest way possible and played over 10 matches without a loss. Before losing to Nzoia, we were on another fine run,” Mukaisi recounted.
