Manchester United are preparing a summer move for Zenit St Petersburgand Argentina defender Ezequiel Garay.
The 28-year-old is reportedly eager for a move away from Russia in the summer, and Spanish outlet Fichajes.net reports that United will table an £18.5million bid at the end of the season.
The former Benfica man made the move to the Russian Premier League from the Portuguese side last summer. Zenit forked out €15million for the Argentina international, beating off interest from numerous European clubs in the process.
United were one of the potential suitors for the former Real Madrid man last summer, and manager Louis van Gaal is reportedly keen to bring the centre-back to Old Trafford to bolster his defensive ranks.
The Red Devils have struggled with injuries in defence throughout the campaign, but are still on course for a place in next season’s Champions League, they sit fourth in the table, four points clear of Liverpool in fifth.
