Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has spoken out about the contribution of summer signingAngel Di Maria against Crystal Palace.
The Argentina international could do no wrong during his early matches at Old Trafford, but his Dutch manager focused on the negatives following a much-needed victory on Saturday.
In comments later published by the Daily Mirror, the United boss said, “Sometimes you cannot dribble, so you have to make it a passing game, and Di Maria is not a player who wants to give a pass every time he gets the ball.
“But in this case we needed that and not dribbles. Therefore he lost the ball a lot and that was not good for the balance of the team.”
Di Maria has not enjoyed the best of times in recent weeks, but he did set up the winning goal at the weekend and for that reason alone he continued to prove why United spent so much on him earlier this year.
in other news the same newspaper claims reported United target Saido Berahino will begin talks over a new contract at West Bromwich Albion this week.
The England under-21 international is enjoying a blistering season, leading to United – and plenty of others – allegedly keeping an eye on him.
Did you think Di Maria unbalanced the United side against Palace?
